Minimalist Bicycle

Draw a clean bicycle using simple circles and lines.

intermediate15–32 minutesminimalist

Practice focus

Align two equal wheels and connect their hubs, crank, seat, rack, and handlebar with a mechanically coherent frame

Compose an exercise

Construction sequence

Build what matters first

  1. 1

Draw two equal wheel circles on one ground line and mark a centered hub inside each.

  2. 2

Place the crank between the wheels, then connect it to the rear hub, seat post, and front steering tube with the teal frame bars.

  3. 3

Extend the fork from the front hub to the handlebars and the rear supports from the back hub to the saddle and rack.

  4. 4

Add the chain guard, pedals, fenders, saddle, and small rear carrier without changing the established wheel spacing.

  5. 5

Radiate restrained spokes from each hub and darken only the tires, frame, and key joints.

Make it easier

Reduce the decisions

Use two wheel circles, two hubs, a simple frame triangle, straight fork, saddle, and handlebars without spokes or accessories.

Make it harder

Transfer the structure

Turn the bicycle slightly toward the viewer and construct elliptical wheels, offset hubs, foreshortened frame bars, pedals, and rack.

Difficulty rubric

Why this is intermediate

The label is an editorial band, not a precise score. It considers the factors below; your feedback is stored locally and does not silently change the rating.

  • paired circle accuracy
  • hub and frame alignment
  • thin mechanical connections
  • controlled spoke rhythm
