Build what matters first

   Sweep an S-like center line from the koi's rounded head at lower-left to its raised tail at upper-right.

   Widen the body around the front third, taper it toward the tail base, and attach a two-lobed tail fin.

   Place the pectoral and dorsal fins so their translucent edges follow the fish's turn rather than sitting symmetrically.

   Design a few large orange and black patches that wrap across the white body without tracing every scale.

   Draw broken concentric ripples around the fish and interrupt them where the body, fins, and lily pads occupy the surface.
